SCHAUMBURG, IL – Small and midsize manufacturers, alongside the Technology & Manufacturing Association (TMA), are voicing their strong opposition to SB25’s latest amendment as the bill would impose a significant financial burden on Illinois consumers and businesses, with estimated costs reaching $1.5 billion.

Nixon had revealed he was going to the moon, he could not
have flabbergasted his world audience more.”
Just over a month after passing the Chicago Paid Leave and Paid Sick Leave Ordinance (the Ordinance), which brought sweeping new paid leave and paid sick leave requirements to employers with Chicago employees, the city has amended the Ordinance to delay its effective date and limit the number of covered employees.
With the January 1, 2024, effective date of the Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act (IPLAWA) quickly approaching, employers need to ensure they are analyzing their existing paid leave policies to determine what changes need to be made before the end of 2023.

The City of Chicago pass a new Paid Leave and Paid Sick Leave Ordinance effective December 31, 2023 which requires up to 40 hours of paid leave during a 12-month period.
Effective January 1, 2024, the Paid Leave for All Workers Act (the “PLFAW Act”) will require most employers in Illinois to provide employees with paid leave that may be taken for any reason.
