TMA hosts Appreciation Reception for 2025 SaMM Caucus members

SPRINGFIELD – The Technology & Manufacturing Association enjoyed hosting 2025 members of the Small and Midsize Manufacturers (SaMM) Caucus Tuesday evening at the Pasfield House, just across the street from the Illinois State Capitol.

“It was great to shake hands with members of both parties that support small and midsize manufacturers throughout the state and region,” said TMA Executive Vice President Dennis LaComb. “We appreciate their interest and desire to learn more about how public policy can boost the industry – and retain Illinois’ long term leadership in the nation.”

The SaMM Caucus meets to discuss ideas and plans for legislation that affects the state’s industry. Last year, the members suggested proposing a task force to focus on introducing policy concepts that would grow manufacturing efforts.

This year, that suggestion is Senate Joint Resolution 31, soon to be voted on in the Illinois Senate after passing out of committee this week.

“We are always looking for other lawmakers to join the SaMM Caucus,” TMA Lobbyist David Curtin said. “As the nation focuses on bringing more manufacturing to Illinois, the effort to attract those businesses to the Midwest and Illinois in particular will become more and more important. The SaMM Caucus will be in the lead as we do.”

Last year, TMA worked with other business groups to clarify the BIPA (Biometric Information Protection Act) and before that, TMA worked to protect Illinois’ business-friendly flat tax.

“It is crucial for members of both political parties to work towards a healthy business setting in Illinois,” said Curtin, “and we’re delighted that both Democrats and Republicans are involved in the SaMM Caucus.”
