WOODSTOCK, IL – Last week, the Technology & Manufacturing Association’s Education Foundation awarded a grant of nearly $45,000 to Woodstock High School’s Metals and Manufacturing Lab.
The school’s principal Dr. Art Vallicelli and Career & Technical Education Division Chair Dr. Steven T. Thompson received the check from TMA’s Manager of Training and Education Leigh Coglianese.
The school plans to use the $44,996.96 to buy four manual lathes, four digital readouts, machine accessories and tool holders for all four lathes and one horizontal bandsaw.
“Thank you to Dr. Steve Thompson for securing a major grant from TMA to improve our Metals and Manufacturing Lab and Program,” Principal Vallicelli said on Twitter. “This grant will help many kids learn pivotal skills and increase their chances of working in the manufacturing field!”
TMA Education Foundation raised funds through the Technology & Manufacturing Association member donations.
More grants are expected to be awarded this year to promote and encourage more young people to consider technology and manufacturing careers.
