SOUTH ELGIN, IL – South Elgin High School students studying precision manufacturing and engineering are lucky to have an instructor that does much more than simply teach them.

Not only does Russell Bartz – AKA “Mr. Bartz” – teach his students crucial industry skills, he’s very proud of their many accomplishments and actively pats them on the back via Twitter. (Mr. Bartz is center of photo above)

Mr. Bartz often tags “@TMAInfo” (that’s us!) because the Technology & Manufacturing Association works with Mr. Bartz – and every May his students participate and win big in TMA’s Precision Machining Competition.

In early April, 10 of Mr. Bartz’ students competed in the annual Skills USA Illinois competition in the areas of CNC technician, CNC lathe & CNC milling.

As documented by some of Mr. Bartz’ prolific Twitter feed, several SEHS students are going on to SkillsUSA Nationals:

And here’s how the South Elgin High School participants placed:

They took first, second and third in the state’s CNC Milling competition:

They took first place in CNC Mill & Lathe work:

And they won first place in CNC Turning – going onto Nationals:

They won a terrific prize:

Congratulations, South Elgin High School precision manufacturing and engineering students – for winning big at Skills USA Illinois and for having an awesome coach and chief cheerleader – Mr. Bartz!
